Casa Ixil was conceived as a residence for temporary stays, allowing the project to explore strategies focused on efficiency, comfort, and flexibility of use. Built on a narrow and slightly irregular site within a dense urban context, the house adopts an inward-looking architecture that prioritizes privacy and environmental performance.
The street façade remains largely closed, with carefully positioned openings that control views and natural light. In contrast, the interior is organized around a central courtyard with a swimming pool, which serves as the spatial and climatic heart of the project, connecting the private and social areas of the house.
This central space promotes cross ventilation, abundant natural light, and passive thermal regulation, creating comfortable living conditions throughout the year. Perimeter walls reinforce privacy while generating deep shadows that enrich the spatial experience.
Casa Ixil proposes an introspective architecture designed for rest and contemplation, where the passage of time, light, and atmosphere shape the experience of dwelling.
