Casa Kakmo is located in Izamal, a town recognized for its strong cultural identity, historical heritage, and distinctive urban character. Conceived as a vacation residence, the project offers a place of retreat and contemplation, functioning as an oasis for rest and disconnection.
The design balances introspection and openness, creating spaces that provide privacy while maintaining a connection to their surroundings. Through courtyards, voids, and a carefully choreographed sequence of spaces, the house establishes a spatial experience that accompanies everyday life.
The material palette draws from the colors and textures of the local context, allowing the architecture to integrate naturally into the existing urban landscape. Rather than replicating traditional forms, the project reinterprets local architectural references through a contemporary language.
Casa Kakmo proposes an architecture that engages with its cultural setting, creating an intimate, quiet, and deeply contextual living experience.
